Regarding rail and the current Iran crisis

Rail is no longer just about mobility — it’s becoming a key pillar of Europe’s energy strategy. Due to Iran crisis, energy security move to the top of the agenda, and rail stands out as a transport solution that is both scalable and already proven.

The question is no longer if rail will play a role in the energy transition — but how fast we can accelerate it.

According to CER, rail freight transport is already sparing Europe 144,000 barrels of diesel-equivalent oil per day, saving €4.5 billion per year, and avoiding 22.5 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
